現地時間2018年2月26日、メタリカが、2016年11月にリリースされた最新アルバム『ハードワイアード...トゥ・セルフディストラクト』を引っさげた【WorldWired】ツアーに新たな日程を追加した。
今回発表された34公演に及ぶ北米ツアーは、2018年9月2日にウィスコンシン州マディソンでキックオフし、翌年3月13日にミシガン州グランド・ラピッズでフィナーレを迎える。過去数十年間演奏をしていなかった州での公演も含み、ノース・ダコタ州は30年ぶり、サウス・ダコタ州では25年ぶりにライブを行う。
オープニング・アクトは、メンバーのジェイムス・ヘットフィールドの物まねで知られる米コメディアンのジム・ブリュアーが務める。チケットの一般発売は、今週の金曜日3月2日からとなっている。
